Hydroscand UK Awarded UK’s Best Workplaces™ Recognition!

Manjinder Karwal - 20 March 2024

On 14th March, Great Place to Work® held their annual Best Workplaces Awards ceremony in London. We are proud to share that we were recognised as one of 2024 UK’s Best Workplaces™ in the medium category.

Listening to Our Teams

In 2022, Hydroscand Group conducted its first employee satisfaction survey, which was run by Great Place to Work®.

We wanted to find out what our team members thought about Hydroscand, what it is like working here and how we could best support them, as they support our customers.

Following that survey, we were thrilled to receive certification as a Great Place to Work. So much of what was said by our teams was positive. There were a few ideas for improvement as well and, where possible, have worked on those points over the past year.

In 2023, thanks to our employees taking part and making their thoughts known, the feedback was even better, and our trust index was reported at 88% favourable.

What Sets Us Apart

At Hydroscand, we believe that creating a positive and supportive work environment is paramount to our success.

We prioritise employee development through ongoing personal development discussions, regular training for all roles, and creating an open and honest environment.

We have also focused a great deal on leadership development, to ensure that our managers are able to support and guide the teams effectively.

We have a real focus on safety and wellbeing, including offering training for managers on mental health awareness and having an Employee Assistance Programme available to everyone.

As well as supporting our team members we also do what we can for the communities we work in. In 2023, we asked our teams what they would like to do in terms of charitable donations or sponsoring local initiatives. Based on their feedback we supported two grass roots football clubs.

We also sponsored our team members who took on challenges for charity and we organised a Macmillan Coffee Morning, which raised £500. We also support a junior school near our office in Nottingham as often as possible and we collected books for the school Hydroscand Group sponsors in South Africa. It is important to get involved in these initiatives because it creates a sense of pride in the team and helps us connect with local communities.

What Our Team Members Say About Hydroscand

But don't just take our word for it. Here's what some of our employees have to say about their experiences at Hydroscand:

Will Voss, Branch Technician at Hydroscand Gloucester, said, “I think Hydroscand is a great company to work for. I think we’ve got some great products, great stock, great people, and a great environment.”

Manjinder Karwal, Digital Marketing Executive, said, “I think women, especially from a diverse background, should be given an opportunity to get their voice heard. I have been working at Hydroscand for three years and I have been given the opportunity to manage a lot of projects, and to voice my opinion and ideas to my colleagues.

” Josh Gregory, Mobile Hose Technician at Hydroscand Plymouth said, “I’m really enjoying it. No two jobs are the same. I’m really looking forward to what my future at Hydroscand looks like."

Michelle Hilton, Warehouse Supervisor confirmed that, “it’s a lovely job. I get up in the morning and I look forward to coming to work. It’s the people that make this place such a pleasure to work in. And the management are so supportive.”

A Great Place to Work in the Future

We are both grateful and excited to be included in the UK’s Best Workplaces™ List for 2024. This recognition reinforces our dedication to providing a supportive and fulfilling work environment for all employees.

Looking ahead, Rebecca Galley, Managing Director in the UK, explains, “we will continue to work as a trustworthy and ethical business. We are already seeing success based on this approach, with people from other businesses in the industry approaching us about opportunities to join the team. We believe that this, along with our other core values is what sets us apart in the market. We hope to retain our status as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™ long into the future!”
